London – Day 1 of vacation

I haven’t taken a vacation in a few years. A truly relaxing, do nothing, check out of life vacation. So on January 1, 2015 I booked it, I would leave the day after my birthday and land back in the states May 27th. I would fly into London, and 2 weeks later I would fly out of London and into Reykjavik for 5 days, then back home. Well….true to style, this has now turned into a few days in Scotland and Ireland and lots of friends and way too many laughs and drinks to count. And so it begins….

I arrived in London Friday morning and I immediately felt at home. I haven’t been to this city in about 10 years, so you would think I would be totally lost and overwhelmed. Yeah..not so much 🙂 London is like any other major city around the world….and I have conquered quite a few..if i do say myself. I met Nick for a beer before he headed out and I headed to his couch, and then it was Saturday already!

I decided to get the tourist out of me right away. London Bridge, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace (no baby Catherine announcement which was disappointing), and a ridiculous adventure on the Underground and I finally made it to ‘NY style’ pizza and British craft beer with my dear friend who I missed from our lovely times in Brooklyn. It seemed like London was a bit NY…and NY was very London at that moment.

I spent my last day just relaxing. A traditional breakfast and tea before heading out to see Greenwich and all the history that existed in this beautiful little city tucked away. I actually woke up Monday morning and felt melancholily for leaving…..and then I flew to Edinburgh.

More to come…..xo
